How to prepare Garam masala

Here is a recipe for making your own garam masala:


  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cardamom pods
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 cinnamon stick


  1. In a dry skillet or pan, roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cardamom pods, black peppercorns, cloves, fennel seeds, and cinnamon stick over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until they are fragrant and lightly toasted. Be careful not to burn them.
