About Bisanadi National Reserve
Bisanadi National Reserve is a protected area located in Isiolo County, in northern Kenya. The Kenya Wildlife Service manages an area of about 606 square kilometers named after the Bisanadi River, which flows through it – it is called the Bisanadi Reserve.
The Bisanadi National Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various species of antelope. The reserve is also an important habitat for several bird species.
The Northern Rangelands Trust manages a network of community conservancies covering about 42,000 square kilometers. Which includes the Bisanadi National Reserve, as part of its efforts to promote conservation and sustainable development in the region. And involves local communities in conservation efforts and benefits-sharing.
How to get there
Visitors access this Kenya reserve via vans in Meru and enter through the Murera gate in Meru National Park. There is an airstrip at Korbessa for constitution Kenya flights to Meru National Park and different reserves.
Wildlife The reserve is proficient with numerous sport points of interest consisting of cheetah, elephant, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, eland, impala, wildebeest, hartebeests and lots of different species.
The reserve records more than 300 species of birds, including kingfishers, Malachite fish eagles, and sunbirds among others. Numerous water birds are often sighted on the banks of the River Tana.
